To really start on the path to success I had to let go of certain mindsets that were holding me back.
First and foremost was the mindset that I wasn’t good enough. Regardless of how amazing people would tell me I am, I still had a feeling that I wasn’t enough. What really helped me overcome this was reminding myself continually that art is open to opinion and I’m just going to continue to educate myself and refine my techniques so that I kept getting better and better.
I had to let go of the mindset that I couldn’t do certain things because of financial limitations. Like many, I kept thinking I can’t do this because I don’t have the means to create this and this. When I really started to shift and go, maybe I can’t do it full scale, but I’m going to find a way to make it happen, I was able to do so much more. The truth is nowadays there is absolutely no excuse for how you cannot create free content. Just check out Canva or Wix for free ways to create content or a free website.Â
Lastly, I had to let go of “it’s all or nothing.” This does not mean I slack by any means, but sometimes certain things need more attention and I have to give it to that. So, rather than completely just stopping in one area I’ve re-trained myself so I do at least a little bit in that area until I can get back on top of doing it more.
