“A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary”
This is a quote we deeply believe in at Patrice Peris Voice Studios! The most accomplishing feeling is seeing our students out in the world pursuing their dreams all on their own! Knowing that students have moved on from the studio feeling as though they gained the right tools and knowledge to pursue their own careers is something we strive for in all of our artists.
This past week we checked in with a few of our past students to see what they’ve been up to, and as expected we have some awesome news to share! Be sure to read below about all the exciting things happening with Taylor O’connor and Renee Lamy!
TAYLOR O’CONNOR
Taylor is currently finishing up her second semester at one of the top music institutes in the country, Berklee College of Music! Taylor is having the time of her life while enjoying all that Berklee has to offer, and showing it through her evolving talent. She is 1 of 12 lucky students to have been chosen from over 150 to audition for an event Berklee hosts annually called “Singers Night”. This year the event will be May 1st at Berklee’s Performance Center, if you’re in the area be sure to stop by and support Taylor!
Be sure to follow Taylor on Social Media to keep up with all of her other upcoming gigs this summer! “Getting the chance to work with Patrice gave me the best guidance on how to get myself out there when it comes to booking gigs” she says, “When I’m preparing for shows I still think of me and Patrice standing in front of the full body mirrors in the studio watching ourselves perform, trying to give the best possible routine! I’m so happy I had time to work with Patrice to learn all those cool tricks that I will always think of preparing for shows!”
RENEE LAMY
Almost done with her first year of college at the University of Massachusetts; Lowell, Renee Lamy has not only been studying music but producing! “I’ve been exposed to a lot of different music styles. I have a group of friends that I write a lot of music with and their style is very different from mine so it has been a challenge but I am learning a lot and improving my writing skills.” (Renee) Along with all this writing, Renee has just recently released her firsts single, ‘Let You Go!’ “My single being released has been really exciting. I’ve gotten a lot of positive responses to it and I’m continuing to try to spread it to as wide of an audience as I can. It’s on most streaming services but YouTube and Spotify are where I’ve noticed the most attention…The message is sad, but also very freeing. I think most everyone can relate to a time that they loved something, or someone, but knew that it is better for them to be without it/them. I hope people find some relation with the song in that way or in any way they feel.”
The song is a perfect summer hit, the right mix of “upbeat and chill” as described by Renee, in which we have to agree!
Renee is excited to be scheduling some gigs this summer and performing again! “I miss performing so much!!” she says, “I can’t wait to get back on stage soon! The studio has been a huge part of helping me become an independent artist… I’ve learned so much musically from the studio, and so much about the business side of the industry. I think that’s something Patrice offers that not many other places do. The social media and marketing side has been a huge part of me becoming an independent artist and I learned most of what I know about that from the studio and watching Patrice and Whitney in the process.”
