It’s a funny thing that I have seen many go through or face, and that is trying to do it all yourself.
Trust me when I tell you, I have a lot of experience in this and each time I had the mindset that I was going to do it all by myself, I ended up less productive and miserable. The truth is we all need a team and support system, I don’t care who you are. Even if you are superhuman and can handle massive amounts of work, it can get lonely and tiring to not have people around you to help or support you.
There can be the mindset that many artists take on, that they are going to do it all themselves. I’m not sure if they are trying to make or prove a point, but if you are not at the point to have a team of people to work with, I would advise to get some other like-minded people together and create a community where you can ask questions, bounce ideas off one another or just plan to have another outlet to talk to. This really is a key to success as, having had the experience of taking on the world head on as well as having a team of support, I will take the latter any day.
The truth is as an artist it can be a lonely path when you are not surrounded by other driven creatives and can lead many to lose momentum, hence where the community comes into play. Some other tips to finding a team are to look for local forms of other artists or find studios and see if they have any networking nights, ask mentors if they have people, they can put you in an accountability group with. Whatever it may be, find a tribe and allow yourself to not have to go at it alone. Trust me when I tell you it will make the journey a little bit smoother and a lot more fun!
