Is The Industry Too Saturated For You To Be Successful?

I want to talk to you today about market saturation. Recently, I was watching a video about business and it was discussing the question “should you get into a market that is very saturated?” A lot of people have the misconception that you shouldn’t because there’s a lot of people in that space and it’s going to be harder for you to fight through.

The point that was brought up in the video was yes, though you have more people to compete with, at the very least you know that there is a demand there.

In the video, they used the example of fitness. The fitness market is incredibly saturated. But there will always be a demand for it. No matter what happens, people will always want to look and feel good. With artists, it’s the same kind of deal. People are always going to be looking to hire musicians to entertain crowds at restaurants, fairs, festivals, and parties and people are always going to be looking for new music to listen to.

We will always need music. Music is never going away there is a constant demand for it. No one wants to listen to the same song year after year. People don’t even want to listen to the same song all day!
So if you are thinking “there are millions of artists out there” and wondering how you’re going to cut through, I would say that defining who you are is super important and then you just need to do. Don’t let all of the “I can’t” or “It’s too saturated” noise get in the way. None of those thoughts have ever been defining of who makes it to the top. At the end of the day, it’s the ones that just continue ‘action, evaluate and do again’ that make it to the top. Through this, you will get better. If you just keep climbing the ladder then you can get to the top.

So if you are asking yourself “should I pursue a career as an artist because it’s super saturated?” Just get out of your own way and start putting the time in!
