Have you ever heard of that saying, ‘you are what you eat’? Well, there is also, you are what you think.
I find that so many artists have limited beliefs about what their capabilities are. They say that they want to achieve big goals, but unless they believe that they can achieve them, it won’t happen. They will amount to what they believe they can. Therefore, it is so important as artists that we take the time to reflect on our thoughts and beliefs for ourselves as well as the beliefs that have been passed on to us.
I hear so many artists say “getting to that high level is impossible” and if they have that mindset and those thoughts, then it is going to be impossible for them. And I totally understand because I have had to conquer my own limiting beliefs for myself and what I am capable of. It’s an ongoing process that you will always have to check in on. You will also have to check in on those around you as well.
Many times, people with big goals have people around them asking if they’re being realistic. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that it is important to have multiple streams of income as an artist and to think of ways to make a flourishing life for yourself. But I also think that it is important to limit those around you who create limiting beliefs about yourself. So yes you are what you eat, but you are also what you believe. Believe that you can achieve!
